Generala is played with five dice and an eleven-box scorecard. Each turn you roll up to three times, setting useful dice aside; at the end you score a matching free box or scratch one. Highest total after eleven rounds wins.
🎲 Play nowTwo to four players (the physical game has no seat limit; online tables have four chairs). The goal is to score as many points as possible by completing the eleven boxes of the scorecard, one per turn.
Eleven rounds are played: in each round every player takes one turn. After round eleven the totals are added and the highest wins.
The turn starts with the first roll of all five dice. If you like what you see, score it; if not, set aside (hold) the useful dice and reroll the rest. You can do that once more, for a maximum of three rolls per turn.
Dice set aside are locked: they cannot be rerolled during that turn. You may, however, reroll all five dice at once when nothing suits you — sometimes that gamble wins the game.
You are not forced to declare until the third roll: if a big combination lands on the first roll you can risk it all chasing something better. Scoring on the first roll makes the combination "served", worth extra points.
The number boxes (Ones to Sixes) score the total of the dice showing that number: three sixes score 18 in the Sixes box. The major combinations have fixed values, plus 5 when served.
| Box | Combination | Normal | Served (1st roll) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ones | number of 1s × 1 | sum | sum |
| Twos | number of 2s × 2 | sum | sum |
| Threes | number of 3s × 3 | sum | sum |
| Fours | number of 4s × 4 | sum | sum |
| Fives | number of 5s × 5 | sum | sum |
| Sixes | number of 6s × 6 | sum | sum |
| Straight | 1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6 | 20 | 25 |
| Full house | Triple + pair | 30 | 35 |
| Four of a kind | Four equal dice | 40 | 45 |
| Generala | Five equal dice | 50 | wins the game |
| Double generala | Second generala | 100 | 105 |
Four of a kind also accepts five equal dice (for example when the Generala box is already closed): score 40, or 45 served. With five of a kind you choose where to write it: Generala, Four of a kind or the matching number box.
Five equal dice on the very first roll of the turn are called a served generala (generala servida) and win the entire game on the spot, whatever the other scores. It is the most famous roll of the game.
On this site the automatic win only triggers while the Generala box is still open. If you already scored or scratched it, five of a kind scores normally (Four of a kind 45 served, or Double generala 105 served) and play continues.
Each box is used once: once scored it stays closed for the rest of the game. If your dice match no free box you must scratch: pick any free box and it closes at zero.
Scratching is tactical. The classic sacrifices are Double generala and Generala (the hardest) or the Ones box (the cheapest). Note that scratching Generala also gives up the instant win of a later served generala.
The game ends when someone rolls a served generala (instant win) or after eleven rounds. Then totals are added and the highest wins.
On a tied total, the player with more generalas (Generala or Double generala) wins. If still tied, the game is a draw.
It plays from 2 players; online tables seat 2 to 4 and bots fill empty seats when needed.
Five dice and up to three rolls per turn; between rolls you set aside the useful dice, which stay locked.
The straight (1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6) scores 20 points, or 25 when completed on the first roll.
A full house scores 30 (35 served) and four of a kind 40 (45 served). Five equal dice may also be scored in the four-of-a-kind box.
Five equal dice on the first roll of the turn: it wins the whole game immediately regardless of the score.
You must scratch a free box: it closes at zero for the rest of the game. It is mandatory at the end of the third roll.
Yes — nobody is forced to declare before the third roll. You may even reroll all five dice chasing a better combination.
With a served generala (instant win) or after eleven rounds: the highest total wins, with generalas as the tie-breaker.
